Question
I have a fresh water 8 gallon bio-Orb tank and a new African Frog.  How often does he come up for air?- I have not seen him make it to the top in a week now!  sometimes he tries to go up the side, but it is round and he doesn't make it to the top.  Thanks,  Penny

Answer
Hi Penny
I don't the exact timing, obviously he is making it otherwise he would've drowned by now.  I have one, I never really timed it, just on occasion I would see him going up.  It's not like every 5 minutes though.  It's recommend to have a shallow tank, like a 10 gallon for them, because they can have a difficult time getting to the top, especially if there's strong current from the filter.  I've only seen those tanks once, and didn't look at it that closely, but he may be having a difficult time.
If he continues to look like he's struggling to make it up, you may want to consider returning him, or getting a regular 10 gallon tank.  Here's a good site with lots of info on ADF's:

Good luck with your new frog, and let me know if you have more questions.
