Whole tank not eating!

Question
I have a 55 gallon tank in my home along with 2 other tanks, I am not new at keeping fish, but this is the first time I have run into this problem.  The whole tank is not eating.  For weeks I have been battling a green water algae scenario, also a first, and 3 days ago the tank just stopped eating.  Yesterday I did a water change and checked the water, all of the readings are fine.  No Nitrate, nitrate, ammonia and PH is a perfect 7.  I am completely stumped!  I have tried frozen brine and not even that is working.  Just in case this makes any difference, I have a severum, a Jack Dempsey, a silver dollar, a shovel nose catfish, pleco and cory's in this particular tank.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Darlene

Answer
Dear Darlene,
Sorry to hear about the fish not eating. There are many things to consider when your fish are not eating. It could be stress or environmental changes the fish don't like or have not yet adjusted to. One of the most important things you could do is daily 30% water changes for at least a week. This will help with your algae bloom the most, more than any chemical will. Make sure to vacuum your gravel as well.
Try this for a while, and make sure to keep a close eye on your fish. How is their color? Are they hiding a lot? Are they interacting?
If these fish are relatively new they may need some time to adjust to your tank as well.

Try the water changes for at least a week, and see how your fish improve. Often when fish don't eat it is often water quality related.

I really hope this helps!
Best of luck,
Karen~
