Peas as a remedy?

Question
Hello.  I just want to start out by saying that I have got one chubby angelfish.
I think I have narrowed down the cause for its girth to be impaction, as his
scales all look normal (so I dont think its dropsy) and Its definitely not
pregnant. However Im very conscientious of feeding and I do water changes
religiously.  Ive cut back feedings to every other day, but I'm concerned it
might not be enough. It hangs out in one spot for the most part just
hovering, but is very responsive when anyone passes by. Ive been told to try
feeding a fresh, cleaned pea to the fish as this allegedly has some sort of
enzyme that helps to break down the clogged waste like a natural fish Drain-
o. Is there any truth to this statement? Im sure it wouldnt hurt it to try, but I
want to help my fish more than anything. Any suggestions?
Thanks so much, Melissa

Answer
Hi Melissa,
Definitely try the pea method. Its very effective in most cases. It might take a little while but keep trying. Goldfish usually love peas anyway as a regular part of their diet.

After he is better, definitely look at his normal diet and determine if he needs more variety or fiber. This is a great website on sensible goldfish care-

I hope this helps!
