Question
QUESTION: 1. I have a 5 gallon tank with 2 male bettas and 1 female and I would like to mate them.  I am going to take the female out and leave 1 male in the 5 gallon tank but the only thing is that Ihave a filter on it I dont want the water that would be falling down to disturb the bubblenest so what would you suggest I do to slow down the water because i dont see a switch on it otherwise and i need instructions on how to mate and what i would need.

ANSWER: Andrea,
you can use a air driven sponge filter, with very slow bubbles.
Or you can use nothing at all untill after the babies are hatched and then you could add the sponge filter.
You could possibly slow down your power filter by slowing the intake of water, you could wrap the intake strainer with some filter pads to restrict the intake.
You may not be able to slow it enough however.
If you have more questions, just ask.

QUESTION: Thanks for answering my first question but i would also like to ask how to breed betta fish

Answer
Andrea,
Start out with one male and 3 or more females, condition the fish with extra quality foods.
Put them in a small tank, 5-10 gals with plants, some floating ones if you can get them as he will use them for the bubble nest.
After you see him driving the female he will put the eggs in the bubble nest and guard them.
Once they hatch out, very small live foods or one of the prepared fry mixes must be available.
I used to take lettuce and put it in a gallon jar with tank water, set it in the window and within a few days it was teeming with infusoria which I droppered out and fed to the babies.
have plenty of jars on had to hold the fish once they are big enough.
It is not the easiest thing to do as the babies are very small and there usually is alot of them.
