QuestionI have two snails one is very active and one was not when i first got them
which was about a week ago. I just noticed that the inactive one isnt stuck
against the glass like i thought but, floating in between the filter and the
glass. I took it out because i thought one of my fish maybe sucked him out
but no. It was still in the shell it is alive, i saw it close up more in shell but
when placed in water still floats. Whats the prob? is it dying there is a tiny
crack in the shell
AnswerHi Carl;
It may sound weird but sometimes snails take a little "vacation". They retreat into their shells for awhile and just float around. I've known some to do that for 3 weeks at a time. It's possible he was injured though and is trying to recover. You might consider moving him to a fish bowl with a live plant or romaine lettuce to nibble on for awhile so he can have some time all to himself. Change the water every couple of days. Keep him in a warm spot so he can move around and heal.
I hope he does okay...
