Question
QUESTION: i recently bought a tropical fish tank but not from a shop, i was given about 20 fish with it, all the same kind, they are small and grey / yellow in colour, oval shaped with a thin black stripe down the middle of their bodies and have black spots in the centre on each side, i have searched the internet for pictures which match the description however cannot find anything. I have just added new fish to my tank and they dont seem vicious towards them. Would you be able to help identify them??

ANSWER: They might be danio, barbs, or even a raspbora.  I would try danio first... or a gold barb... dave

Thanks for the pictures... those are cichlids and they look like jewel cichlids to me... though the pictures were fuzzy so I couldnt really tell much past the fact that those are cichlids... They could be jewels, portkey, or pearl cichlids... check them out and let me know... dave

QUESTION: hi again,
i was just wondering my tank has a lot of wires coming from it i onliy have 1 extension at the moment so the all have to go to that and in my opinion its spoiling image of the tank so if u have a tank what have you done with all the leads and cables? thanks
shaun

Answer
I use a background on the back of the tank and then run the wires down behind the tank where you can's see them.  For tubes and wires in the tank I use suction cups and burry them under the gravel where I can or I stick them to the wall and hide them with plants... dave
