Question
Hi karen,
I have an 11 gallon tank, i think it would look really nice if i put in just one big fish, but i'm not sure what would be ok in there, can you tell what is the biggest fish i could put in there?
Thanks.

Answer
Hi Sam,
Well... its difficult to say since the majority of fish that might fit in your 11 gallon may not be happy because of the limited room. What comes to mind mostly is a type of cichlid. Because they tend to like being alone and are responsive to their owners. Convict cichlids, Kribensis, Firemouth or Keyhole cichlids... There is also the "Shell-dweller" setup that is very interesting. As well as the fancy dwarf cichlids or the german blue rams that do fine in small tanks.

Another option is a puffer fish. These are AWESOME animals and so unique. There are many species available and they usually don't do well with other fish so they'd make a great specimen fish for your 11 gallon.

*Figure-eight puffers (while often kept in freshwater they do best with slightly-salted water) are commonly available and would be a great option for your tank.

I hope this helps and make sure to research any species you are considering thoroughly beforehand!

Best of luck!
Karen~
