filter intake

Question
Hi Karen,
I recently bought a new power filter with an intake extension and an adjustable mid level intake. I understand that the mid-level intake increases circulation, but I'm not really sure about setting it's lever, how it works with the circulation of the water. My mid-level fish don't seem to like the lever open and have quit swimming to that end of tank but if I shut it the current is too strong for my cories on the bottom. What has been your experience with these type filters?

Answer
Hi Suz,
I can't imagine the current being too much for your mid-level and cory catfish. I've never had that problem before... That's quite unusual. The best I can recommend is to use a decoration or plants surrounding but not completely blocking the suction intake at the bottom to help the cories out.

If that still doesn't work and your seem seem miserable, it might be best to get a calmer filter. Maybe yours is too big for your size tank.

I hope this helps!
Karen~
