How Many Gallons?

Question
Right now I have 4 African dwarf frogs and I'm thinking about getting some guppies. I've heard that you should get 3 guppies at a time. If I did, then how many gallons would I need if I mixed the Dwarf Frogs and the guppies? Any information would be very much appreciated.

Answer
Erin,

Yes you can put them in the tank with the guppies, but if you do, there might be problems. I am a believer that ADF should be in their own tank. The do not breathe in the water so they have to come to the to to breathe. They are not affected by their own urine but all the fish in the tank will be. If you do want to put them in the tank make sure you are doing water changes every week. You cannot slack on that with the frogs. The smallest tank would be 10 gallons but 20 gallons would be better. Remember, the frogs need to come to the top for air and they are not good swimmers. You will want to have a long tank not a tall tank. If the water is too deep the frog will have problems reaching the top. When you add the fish watch them at feeding time since they are slow. The fish in the tank might eat all the food before it get down to the frog. Hope this helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
