Question
Hi Jaymie,
I have 7 red and mix Danios in my 8 gallon tank. They have been living there over a year without any problem, but recently 3 of them are bit wired, their tail part (right after stomach till the rear fin) has become thing and crooked. And it seems like its hard for them to move around.
Appreciate if you could find a remedy.
Thank you,
Numark.

Answer
Numark,
Unfortunately, sometimes Danios get what's called bent spine. Most experts say it from bad breeding. If you get your fish from the same store, I would suggest trying a different one. There really isn't anything you can do but keeping the tank very clean might helps. It could be Neon Tetra disease and there is no cure for it, or it could be fish TB. Either way, remove the fish from the main tank and put it in your hospital tank. Be careful putting your hands in the tank. Fish TB can be transferred to humans. If you have any cuts on your hands I would suggest not putting your hands in the tank and use a net.
