Question
hi, im currently cycling my 29 gallon freshwater tank. it has a marineland 350b power filter, heater and airstone in it. it has also got a few golden mystery snails. the tank has been running for nearly a week now, but there has been no jump in amonia or nitrite levels. is this a good or bad thing? or did i simply get lucky, and get no problems with it, or are they still yet to come?
thanks, meg

Answer
Hello Meg!
If there are only snails in the tank and the ammonia/nitrite levels aren't rising alot, then it isn't really that surprising especially for a 29 gal. tank. This is a really good thing because high pH levels can stress/nag/bother aquatic animals especially the sensitive skin of snails and scaleless fish.
~Hope this helps! :D
