How much salt did you add? 14 oz of Doc Wellfish salt.
Is it a non-iodized pure salt? Yep, used to use regular table salt non-iodized but stopped for about 6 months.
Do you usually add salt and at the same concentration? Used to keep up with it but ran out and let it go for awhile.
Did you clean the filter or change anything in it? Yes, always rinse the pre filter and change the carbon.
Did you use a water conditioner? Yes, Stress Coat.

Check the nitrite level too and let me know about the rest as soon as you can..... Nitrite and PH are perfect.

Seems to be clearing up but is still dirty looking. Fish are eating again.  Looks promising but didn't for a week. What may have caused it?

Answer
Hi Joe;

I am glad they are doing better. Sounds like you did everything correctly. They were probably stressed from so much disturbance of their system. There may have been a quick spike of toxins that you didn't catch, or maybe not. Or, there was just enough of a difference in water chemistry to freak them out. Sometimes we never do figure it out.

It might help to avoid cleaning or replacing parts of the filter at the same time as a water change. Sometimes it's just too much at once for the fish and the system.

Keep up the good work!
