betta all better!

Question
Guess what?! My daughter's betta is all better. It must have been a swim bladder problem because now he is not blindly sipping the water from the top of the tank, he is able to control is swimming and is eating all the pellets she gives him! He is not hanging out on the bottom anymore and is able to maintain his swimming on the top, which must have been the problem with him seeming to be blind. I know he is old, about 3 years old, but at least this crisis is over for now. She was probably feeding him too much and he was constipated or swim bladder issues, you think?
Anyway, thanks for your help, and for now, Nemo is feeling just fine.

Answer
Hi Sheri;

Wow! That's great! I'm so glad Nemo is well again.

It probably was overfeeding. It's pretty common actually. Digestive troubles will often affect the swim bladder too. Those systems are close to each other. If he will eat chunks of peeled green peas a couple of times a week it helps the digestion. Older fish are like older people that way. They get constipated and need a bit of help to recover. Keep him in a warm area so he has a better metabolism too. Old guys kinda need that.
