Question -
I've decided to begin my first expirence with cichlids starting off with a pair of kribs. How common are they in pet stores? are they usually expensive? can they live peacefully with another pair? Does the pair have to be of the same kind or can they each be a different variety? I've been reading as many articles as I can about them, and I know the basics. Also, what other animals can they live with peacefully, like ADFs?

Answer -
Hi Carrie,
Kribs are usually pretty common in pet stores and not very expensive (often in the $5 to $9 range).  Buy a pair of the same kind.  The kind you will most likely see is the common kribensis (Pelvicachromis pulcher).  The other species are quite a bit rarer and definitely much more expensive.

I'm not sure what an "ADF" is?

Answer
Hi Carrie,
I am not so sure about mixing them with an African Dwarf frog...  that might be okay but no guarantees on that.

My general feeling is that alot of herps create too much waste for the typical fish tank and make it hard to keep the tank clean enough for the fish.
