Yellow Water in Goldfish tank

23 14:51:02

Question
We have a feeder goldfish in a 2 GL tank - just got it as a party
favour (another story).

Water in tank is yellow.

No filter on tank - just a bubbler.

We are thinking to replace 25% of the water every couple of days
until this clears up?

We did put cycle and tap water conditioner in the water.

Any suggestions or guidance?

Thanks

Answer
hi,

There are a number of reasons that your water is yellow.  If you have sand in the bottom of the tank, it could just be the dust from the sand (I suggest 1/4 inch of gravel).  If it isn't sand, It's probably the fact that you dont have a filter.  There are small, cheap filters that you can connect you air tube to that do the job quite well (small, cheap ones are about $8.00). If your water is not clear after either removing any sand then I would suggest either changing 20%-25% of the water everyday for 3-5 days or do one full tank clean (if you havn't in a while).  Don't forget to keep using the nessesary chemials (water conditioner, ager, etc.).
I hope I helped,
James.
