should I feed my pocostomus?

Question
My daughter has a 29 gallon tank- about 3.5 months old. It just started showing some algae growth so we went and got a pocostomus. I am worried that we possibly got it too soon as ther really isn't much algea any more- he did a good job! Is there anything I should put in the tank to feed it a little extra? I have heard that sometimes you can put veggies or other food in a tank to feed fish.

Answer
Hi April;

Plecostomus love veggies! I feed mine spinach, romaine lettuce, sliced squash, sliced cucumbers, cooked and peeled peas, cooked green beans, and cooked shredded carrots. Just rinse and drop them in at night. Plecos feed at night when other fish are "sleeping". The other fish can eat any leftovers in the morning. It's good for them too. Feed the veggies 3 times a week or less so the algae will still be eaten too. If more algae grows anyway, cut back on veggies for a little while.
