Betta Fish-help

My Beta fish,Indigo,is on its side and swimming at the top of the bowl. I know he isn't dead because he's still swimming. He follows my finger and usually can swim anywhere but now is have a tough time getting down toward the bottom and only stays at the top. I'm scared because he has never acted this way before.Please help!!

Hi Lena,
  Unfortunately, it sounds like your betta has a swim-bladder problem. This sort of thing often happens as a betta gets old and sadly there is nothing you can really do about it.  Sorry.  Bettas are not long-lived fishes.
