betas and snails

Question
I have a male beta in a 1 gallon tank, can I add snails to my tank, if so what kind? Will the beta eat or try to hurt the snail.

Hi Stephanie;

Snails are very dirty little critters that actually make more mess than they clean up. The tank is actually barely big enough to support just your betta. The betta might also try to eat it anyway. Just keep the tank clean with a weekly water change and keep it away from sunlight and other bright light to help reduce algae.
