QuestionI bought this fish along with 3 other baby oscars (all from the same tank)2 day's ago. All apart from ( the one in question are feeding well). This one (the one in question) has one white spot above right gill and is not feeding as the other's. So far i have feed flake, frozen blood worm, cut up prawn's and give live brine shrimp and daphie. (which he /she chased and eat )
O (as i now call him/ she) has eaten the the live food and tiny amount's of frozen blood worm but still has closed top fin.
Could he / she be a wild oscar?. At the moment the oscar's are in a jewel tank 3ft by 18inch by about 2ft with no other companion's. They are less than 2 inch each and will move up to an established 5ft by 2ft by 2ft tank with coridoras and large plec's in . We have kept oscar's before
which is why i /we got more (previous oscar's died).
Before taking on oscar's i kept Discus for a few yr's. I wonder if hole in the head is to blame. My husband thinks fluke's but i disagree.
Please help He / she is only a baby
AnswerHi A.
As for the HITH or Fluke question, i cant help you on that without a picture.
I assume you know what Ich looks like, so make sure the white spot isnt ich.
As for the tank, I would move them to the 120 gallon tank now, to give them more room. I would not keep them with corys, as they will be eaten.
I plan on getting a 125 gallon FW tank in the future. Oscars will be one of my options. They seem to be growing more and more common these days. Too bad people cram them into small tanks. Your 120 is just right for 3 oscars and a large pleco.
