Female Betta Egg bound

Question
my female betta is egg bound, but won't spawn.  The male has built a fairly large bubble nest and is ready. I've attempted to spawn her with my male a couple of times now.  I'm worried because she is getting so big, she looks like she's about to pop.  Last time I attempted to breed them, there were no eggs in the breeding tank, but a few hours after I put her back in her own tank I noticed eggs at the bottom.  Will she release the eggs on her own?  I've been trying to do my research, but haven't found a definite answer.  I've heard she can get an infection that'll kill her and I want to avoid that.  Also, how long should I allow them to be together before I separate them.  Her dorsal fin is getting pretty torn up and I don't want the male to hurt her any more than is normal. Please help!

Answer
The female Betta wont lay her eggs without a male. The male will wrap himself around her when shes ready and squeeze the eggs out. Female Betta's can die if the eggs start to decompose in her body. There is no known cure for this, except to hope the male will mate with her. You might have to take her out if shes getting too beat up, and give her some medication to help grow back the fins.

Also, if she does spawn, you will have to separate the female from the male after she lays the eggs because the male will take care of them until they hatch, which then you have to remove the male.

It might get rough during the mating process, but this is how they do it. You really don't have too much choice but to keep them together, or separate them and hope she absorbs the eggs back into her body.
