Question
husband out of town, and he keeps up with the 50 gallon fresh water tank. the big pleco looks like he is getting some sort of glaucoma stuff on one of his eyes. a parasite invaded the tank a week/half ago, and seemed to be ok. what should i do?  i tested water, and ph is 6.0.

Answer
Teresa,
It is hard to tell exactly what the fish has without being able to see it. You may need to take a picture of the fish - or at least show us a picture of a fish with similar symptoms to get a correct diagnoses. However, if i were to judge just upon what you have said, I would imagine the Pleco has cloudy eye, which can be treated rather easily - just pick up the appropriate Mardel medication at your local pet store, and always follow directions exactly. Sometimes just looking at the different medications will be a big help a well, as most bottles and boxes of medication have a picture and/or a description of what they are used to cure.
Also, since most illnesses are actually triggered by poor water quality - high ammonia and/or nitrites and nitrates, you may want to test for those as well.
