QuestionHi,
My girlfriend and I purchased a few tetras for our new fish tank. The pink fish we have was the largest of them all but has recently developed a increasingly large stomach that just seems to grow in size
thankyou

AnswerHi Brandon,
A tetra can't actually be pregnant as such because they are egg layers with external fertilization. Your fish could be a female that is ripening some eggs in preparation to lay them, but that usually only takes a few days. It is also possible, unfortunately, that your fish has some sort of internal problem, such as a blocked intestine, that is making its stomach enlarge. Treating that can be tricky. One solution is to try to get the fish to eat thawed frozen peas. That helps move stuff through the digestive tract. Another solution involves epsom salts, but I have never tried that myself so I can't tell you exactly how to do it.
