sick needle nose gar

Question
One of my 2 needlenose gars, which I've had for about 6 mos, is lying on the
bottom of the tank.  It had some white looking stuff (pus, ick?) on its back
and looks bitten by the other gar (some red).  

Any suggestions?

Hi Paul,  
 As you suggest, it was probably bitten by the other gar.  You need to separate them, though if it is lying on its back, the odds of recovery are very low.
