Question
Hi about six months ago i bought a new tank to house some cichlids i have an oscar a quetzal and a texas cichlid (green) when i bought them the oscar and the quetzal were only about two inches in size and the texas about six but now the oscar and quetzal are bigger than him, i have always been a bit concerned about the texas cichlid because he only eats flake food, he will not take anyhting else and i'm beginning to worry that because the other two are now bigger than him he may be out competed for food, i have thought about moving him into my large community tank but i'm worried he may prey on my smaller fish although he seems very docile, what would you recommend? i do regular water tests and they are all coming out normal

Answer
Hi Robert,
It is very likely that the oscar and quetzal are suppressing the texas cichlid such that he won't eat.  I think you are going to have to move him; however, you are correct that if you put the texas cichlid in with a bunch of small fish, he will likely eat them.
