Question
I currently have a 10 gallon tank with 5 zebra danios and 3 guppies and one ghost shrimp. I took the guppies from a friend that was moving because i didn't want her to flush them :(

I know that i am over stocked so i purchased a 37 gallon tank today! yay!

I am wanting to throw some ideas around and see what you think. You have helped me before and i really appreciated your advice!

I am thinking about moving the danios to the 37 gallon and keeping the guppies in the 10 gallon and maybe buying a few more guppies. I think guppies are so beautiful!

What kind of fish could i add to my zebra danios in the 37 gallon tank?

I love my danios personalities and I want something that isn't going to be scared of the danios nor eat the danios. I was thinking about getting a pair of bigger fish. I kinda like angelfish, discus, and silver dollars. I enjoy the unique looking fish. What suggestions do you have?

Answer
I keep barbs with mine, barbs are good fish, but tend to be nippy.  Tiger Barbs come in 3 colors.  Black (which is truly green), tiger orange and black and they come in an albino color too which is kind of pink with reddish stripes.  They are awesome fish, but can only be kept with fast swimmers (danios) or other barbs, because they love a tastey fin.

Angelfish are good, as are the discus (but are very sensitive to water quality, so I caution against buying discus), and no silver dollars, please.  They are extremely territorial and bossy.  They will eat your danios someday.

You could put Cherry Barbs in, corydora catfish, panda corys, zebra danios are good with most other fish, but they are fast swimmers, so you don't want a type of fish they will disrupt and make unhappy.

The ten should be fine for guppies.  Figure guppies at 2 inches when full grown, so figure 2.5 gallons per guppy.  You'd really not want more than four in there.

I'm glad you saved them. :)

Happy fish-keeping.
