5 gallon tank for betta not good enough?

Question
Hi. I've had a very bad experience on this site, but I decided I'll try again asking someone else. I can tell from your past answers that you are a much more polite person who is actually an expert, unlike Richard Hight.
Is a 5 gallon heated aquarium sufficent for a betta? I've read on tons of sites that it is, but this "expert" Richard Hight on this site thinks it isn't. He sent me a rude response saying I wasn't taking care of my fish with this setup, and that he would not waste time answering my questions, even though they were perfectly valid. Why is he even allowed to be on this site if he doesn't even try to help people? I hope I will have a better experience this time with you. Thanks.

Answer
Lacey,
Sorry to hear of your bad experiences with another expert on this sight. To answer your question, yes a 5 gallon is a good size tank to have for your Betta as long as he is the only one in the tank. As long as the heater keeps his water temperature at 80 degrees, he should do just fine. You do not have to put a filter in there, just remember to do your 25% weekly water changes to keep his water clean. You will also want to test the water weekly for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels. If you have any ammonia and nitrite, you will make a water change depending on the levels. If they are low, the 25% will be enough, but if they are high, you will want to do larger changes. I do not know if there is a way for you to ask the questions regarding the other expert. You can check the site out to see if there is a way to contact them.
