Rachel,     Even though your betta is a carnivore, do not feed him insects. Their shells are to hard to digest if he eats it. Also you do not know what kind of defense mechanism the ant has is it chemical in nature,or maybe pincers. Stick to the food you have been feed and Good Luck, Tina
