What is the norm with pidgeon famalies do they kick out their offspring. Also what is the best seed for them. I feed them corn and sunflower seeds its there fave also they get wildbird seed mix

Answer
Hi, Megan,

You probably need to separate the young pigeon from the others.  The young bird should be weaned and the parents can't care for this bird while they have the other 2 babies to care for.  Yes, parents kick their offspring out of the nest at about 21 days so the mom can go to nest again.  Daddy pigeon weans the offspring and teaches them what they need to know.  Once they are weaned, they are on their own.  This is most likely why the young bird is getting picked on.

The best feed for pigeons is pigeon grain.  They also need pigeon grit and plenty of drinking water.  Corn is OK during cold winter months...corn increases their body temperatures.  Wildbird seed mix is OK, but if these birds are pigeons, they really need pigeon grain as their main diet.
