Question
Hello,
My female parakeet laid 5 eggs. one has hatched so far. I was wondering if I needed to put the male in a different cage. He keeps going in the box with the female. will he kill the babbies?
                          Thanks

Answer
Hello NaDeane,

The male is fine where he is. His role in the breeding process is very important. He will feed the female while she incubates her eggs and takes care of the babies. He also will help feed the babies. Most of the time the female will not let the male in the box, but if she does, the male is only trying to help. He feed her and the babies. Some times females can get aggressive so if she starts to be this way then, you should remove the male. Only if she is being aggressive.

Hope this helps!
Thank you for the question!
