what date shall i start handrearing my baby budgie? (about a week old)

Answer
A week old is usually old enough.  Some people say you should start closer to two weeks, but somewhere between one and two weeks is usually the best time to start.  That way they're big enough that they can handle the separation, and young enough that they can still be reared by hand.
