Question
My budgie regurgitates alot, and not just for me. I see her do it when no one is near. I see her regurgitate food sometimes, but othertimes its just spit. Is this normal?

Answer
Dear Danielle,
thank you for your question.
Please see an avian vet with your bird as soon as possible. Continuous regurgitating of food can be a sign of a crop infection or can cause one and that needs to be treated. If your budgie has a mirror or a plastic bird, take it out of the cage, these toys cause birds to regurgitate food constantly and since it's never eaten by the bird they try to feed, they swallow it and regurgitate it again.
I also recommend getting her a partner, a male will works best since two females tend to bicker among each other. Budgies are very social and need constant attention, they get lonely when you are away from them even for an hour or so. A partner will interact with her and the food regurgitation will stop or will at least not cause harm since the other bird will react in the right way to it.
