My birds!

Question
Hello! So, I FINALLY got two budgies... I guess I should name them later. My family decided that sexuality didn't matter, so we just got two birds that are YOUNG, and their ceres weren't developed yet. So in short, we have 50 percent chance of getting male/female, 25 percent of male/male, and 25 percent of female/female. Whatever the outcome is, I'm fine with it.

Anyways, I really learned a lot. First of all, I got ACTUAL FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE of budgies. I found out that they are MOTIONLESS. maybe that will change....

Anyways, my story. I went to the petstore, got a good sized cage, with a cuttlebone, two dishes, a toy, and a ladder, and another perch. I brought it home, and I brought the birds separately. On is white with a splash of blue, and the other is yellow with a splash of green. Their wings were clipped.

When I opened the box, my first impression was: eew. The yellow one started screaming like a machinegun: one same sound, repeated in a rapid manner. I wore rubber gloves and tried to pick them up, but they bit me, and I was caught off guard, and it hurt. So, I just gently "poured" the budgie into the cage, for the box was very small. I did the same with my other budgie, and so far, even this morning, they're MOTIONLES. well, they move like a couple steps every couple hours, but they stick together like glue, and they haven't touched their food, and they're just motionless on the floor, although they pooped a lot. Is this normal?

Okay, question is... can you just roughly give me a general outline of what to do for my budgie in its first month? you get the idea.

Thanks.

Answer
Dear Raymond,
thank you for your question and congrats on gtting your birds :)
It's normal for them to be scared right now. The screaming was the sound they make when they are really afraid, but that's to be expected. They will get used to their cage, but since they are young, they are away from their swarm fo the first time and have to get used to being in a new home, with people around and without a lot of other budgies. It may take a few days, but they will adapt. It may help to put a radio in their room that plays soft music so that they hear something all day long.

Talk to them a lot. It's best if their cage is placed at some height so that they can look down on everything, they will feel safer that way. When they are a bit calmer and have started to explore, you can start the taming process. That will take at least the first month, unless they are already at least a bit tamed by the breeder.
I hope I ws of some help to you
