OUR NEW BUDGIE

Question
Yesterday I brought a very loving and sweet budgie home and put it in a small cage. Today I bought a new larger cage. In the new cage, budgie would not eat, displayed odd behavior and was not friendly. I put it back in the small cage and it ate voraciously, and was loving and friendly again. I am very confused. Why would it change it's behavior and personality when put into the larger cage?

Answer
He probably is just stressed.  Sometimes if they're in large open spaces by themselves, it takes a while for them to feel secure.  He may be used to small spaces, especially if you got him from a pet store.  If you want to put him back in the large cage, he will adjust in a day or so and gain a healthy appetite and become friendlier.  Considering you've only had him for a day, he's still probably getting used to things and he'll relax a bit over the next few weeks.
