QuestionHi I have a cockatiel, four budgies & ring neck dove, they all have there own cages but the budgies live together. I am considering a love bird but want to know if a perant raised lovebird thats about six months old could be tamed enough to sit on your finger...... Also I would like to know if they would all get along during out of cage play time, would another cocaktiel get along better with the group then a love bird would?
AnswerHello. Thanks for posting your questions.
You could try taming the lovebird (s/he is still young), but it will take patience, time, some general knowledge of lovebirds, and knowledge of how to tame a bird. Lovebirds can be very affectionate birds when in a single-bird home.
I can't predict if they will all get along outside their cages...depends on their individual personalities. They might pick on the lovebird at first because s/he would be new. Lovebirds have bigger beaks and are stronger than the others...you should supervise their time out together.
I would have to say yes, another cockatiel would be the better choice of the two.
