Question
Hi Dianna-

I was wondering if you knew anything about crows...their behavior, brain power, etc.  We'd like to have a bird expert on our show, The Adam Carolla Radio Show.  Adam's very interested in whether or not you can train crows to attack.  If you're interested and available sometime next week to call the show please email me.

Our show is on from 6 to 10am in 11 markets West of the Mississippi.  Thanks again.

Lindsey

Answer
Lindsey,
Although my expertise is more of the parrot family, I do know a little bit about crows and pigeons.
A crow is a very smart bird, and yes, they can be trained.  They do not have an ability to talk, but they can be trained much like a pigeon.  It takes a lot of patiecne and repetition and it is always best to start with a very young bird.
Crows can be social animals, but they are also unpredictable as they will always have a "Wild Streak" in them.  They do have a short atention span, so when they are being traind, it would have to be done a little at a time.
I am not sure why anyone would want to train a crow to attack, but it can be done.

Good luck and God Bless.
