picking up feet

Question
i have 6 yearlings that need trimmed but they haven't never had there feet
picked at all.  you can rub them and there gentle but when you go to pick up
their feet they just blow up. i can get their feet up but they just slam them back
down. i just need some pointers on what i can do to make them pick their feet
up  without fighting them.

Before I make any specific recommendations, I'd like a little more information.

When you say you "have" 6 yearlings...do you mean you own all of them? Or are you not the owner but are involved with them through your business...as say a farrier or other horse business related person?

Why were these yearlings left with no real training for so long?  What are their breeds and current living situations?  Are they in stalls, out in the fields...?
