turning out in sand arena - growing ligaments

Question
hello ma'am, our local racetrack doesn't has any grass pastures, so trainers turn out horses onto a sand area inside the round pen. does natural running of the horse help in growing their ligaments faster and better?

Answer
Ideally horses should have over an acre to develop and to run.
Horses in the wild travel many, many miles every day in search of food and water.

When we domesticated horses we took over the responsibility of their care .

It is often very difficult to keep them in the larger fields that are ideal for their
growth and development. One does have to be realistic.

Round pens are really not enough room, but better than the horse spending all of his time in the stall.

Some pepole "train" and exercise horses by chasing them around in a round pen. This quite often puts quite a strain on their joints and ligaments and is generally not a good idea although it has grown popoular.
