breaking a stallion

Question
I have just recently acquired a highly pedigreed foundation Appaloosa stud.  He is 8 years old, and has never been rode.  He has only been used for breeding.  He is very gentle and well mannered.  I am not a professional horse trainer, but I believe he can still be broke, based on his temperment.  In your opinion, can a well-mannered, 8-year-old stud still be broke to ride?

Answer
Hi Elena,
There is no reason why your horse can not be broken to ride. I have several older stallions that are under saddle.  Train him like you would any green horse. The only difference is that you need to make sure that he is trained to behave perfectly around mares.
