Stallion with colt

Question
I have a Paso Fino stallion, age seven, who shares seven acres with three mares, a riding donkey jenny, two donkey fillies and an eight month old stud colt belonging to one of his mares (not his colt, though). The stallion is polite with everyone, has great ground manners, and we are currently training him to ride. Currently he is being a good step dad, grooming and playing with the colt. How long is it safe to keep the colt with his step dad? The stallion is polite and affectionate with mares and foals. (Geldings, though, are another matter...) He even lets the mares and foals eat goodies nose to nose with him. I'd like to keep the colt with him as long as possible because the stallion is socializing him. I really, really want this stud colt to grow up to be equally good with mares and foals.

Answer
This is really going to depend on your stallion. If there are mares around in heat and the colt goes near them, then you may have a problem. If it is not breeding season or the colt shows no interest in the mares, then up to his second birthday. Just keep an eye of them.
