bought our daughter a 13h pony who is schoolmastriss she has only one tooth on one side and she is balling out her haylage is there any other supplement we can give her instead of haylage which would also gain her weight.  she is 25 and needs to gain some more weight and to keep it on.  we r feeding her 3 times daily with 2 scoop no17 2 scoop senior mix for the last 3 weeks some weight gain but not alot. now trying 1 scoop no17 1 scoop senior mix one scoop sugar beet and 1 scoop flaked maized in her night feed  and and one scoop chaff in every meal

Hi Heather,
             Senior horses can have problems keeping weight on, so a good diet is a must. I would start her on three meals of Senior complete feed. I usually start a horse on 14-16 pounds per day , divided into 3 feedings. Add a few lbs of beet pulp and 5 to 10 lbs of hay cubes. Add hot water and make it into a mash.  You then adjust the amount as needed. You can also add vegetable oil for weight. If she does not like the cubes, you can feed her soaked alfalfa pellets, This should help her gain weight.
