Question
hello sir, should horse canines and incisors be also rasped when the horse is taken for sharp molar rasping?? if yes, may i know why??

Answer
Hi Caine,
Rasping or filing of equine teeth is a common practice. It should be done by a qualified veterinarian. Filing of teeth is done when the teeth develop sharp edges and hooks on the teeth. The edges and hooks can develop on any of the teeth, not just the molars. The sharp edges or hooks can irritate the inside of the mouth, cause mouth ulcers and wound the inside of the mouth irritating the horse. It can also cause a horse to drop its feed and not get enough to eat or keep the horse from eating altogether. Remember, only have a professional, qualified veterinarian work with the teeth on your horse.
