Saddle fitting

Question
I have a Walker gelding and I am having trouble fitting a saddle to him. I was wondering if I would need a gaited saddle for him. I've tried around 4 saddles on him that just don't fit at all. All tree sizes. I've heard from many people that I don't need a gaited saddle but I was wondering if it would be better if I was to get one anyway. His whithers seem to be farther back than other horses. I don't know if that's a gaited horse thing or not. When I saddle him up and put the saddle right past his shoulder blades, the saddle will tilt really far forward once I have it cinched down. I don't know what the problem is.

Answer
I train many different horses. From quarter horses to gaited horses. I have found that some horses are just hard to fit. But, you might try adding another pad under the saddle. You will just have to experiment with how many to add and placement of the pads until you find the most correct fit for your horse and saddle. I don't own a "gaited" saddle. I use everything from pleasure saddles to roping saddles on horses. But, a "gaited" saddle is designed to fit "gaited" horses. Having said that...that still does not insure that it will fit. I would try adding another pad before investing in an expensive saddle.
