weaning filly from mare

i got a mare and her filly but my mare is staying over my friends house and she is still nurseing her she is a year old and the filly is my friends horse and iam trying to move my mare but what should i do about weaning them i tried telling my friend she should of been weaned her a while ago becuase my mare was in heat and a stallion got a hold of her and then she went out of heat please tell me what i should do please write back asap.

if the baby is a year old just take them away from each other, it should have been weaned at 5-6 months old. the baby will be fine she should not even be nursing. just separate them and keep them apart. if they cant see each other then it is even better.
