Breeding Gelding?

We have a 7-9 year old supposed to be gelding, we recently put in a 18-20- year old mare who was in heat and he breed her is that possible for a gelded horse? The reason i am wondering is because the gelding was fully erect, and mounted her three times.

THE ANSWER IS YES.
WE HAD A SPOTTED HORSE AT THE FARM THAT WAS IN A PADDOCK WITH A QUARTER HORSE MARE THAT WAS CYSTIC AND ALWAYS IN HEAT.HE WAS HAVING A GOOD TIME EVERY TIME WE LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW.THAT WAS WAY BACK IN THE LATE SIXTY'S. THEY TELL ME HE DIED WITH A SMILE.
