possibly buying a tennesse walker

Question
I am eyeing a cremello tennessee walker who is 18months old.  She is very mildly mannered, but I have concerns about her appearance as of right now...Her belly seems to be bloated and her ribs show...I also hear her belly making lots of noises...I know absolutely nothing about horses, and this is a new experience to me...but really need assistance and guidance...I'm already in love with her, but afraid that I might be getting an ill horse...Any help or advice would be greatful!

Answer
hi jean,
congrats on deciding to buy a horse. the way this filly looks is pretty much normal. foals go through an ugly stage in their life while their growing up. all my horses did and let me tell you my jumper was one ugly filly. but now shes has grown into herself and is a very beautiful looking horse. as long as she doesn't have a dull coat, dull eyes, nasal discharge, and coughing your good. proper feeding and worming will help this horse grow into herself and mature properly. her stomach making noises is a sign of health. it shows her stomach is working and digesting properly. its when you don't hear anything when you need to be worried. id say go for it. goodluck on making your decision.
