Question
hello, hope you can answer questions about equine veterinary. i want to become an equine veterinarian. can you suggest me top 5 best equine veterinary colleges in your country. but i am an indian. do i need to be a citizen of your country? do suggest me what equine veterinary specialty would suit to me for good payment as well as fame in the country?

Answer
Dear Rohit,
Your best source of information would be to contact the universities directly as each school has its own specific entry requirements. I can tell you that admission to veterinary college is very competitive- largely based on on marks in pre-requisite courses and an admissions interview. I cannot advise you on the pre-conditions for admission of international students but I can say that you would have to have an international student visa- you would not have to be a Canadian citizen.
In terms of what branch of Equine medicine would be most lucrative in terms of financial compensation- I would suggest that money should not be your prime motivation in entering the profession; rather- it should be the desire to improve the well being of the animals entrusted to your care and furthering the boundaries of veterinary medicine. Having said this- the more specialized you are (and this would be post-graduate work) the more expensive your overhead and services are likely to cost. Branches such as reproduction, surgeon, osteo, and sport-discipline related focus  are some areas you might consider.
In Canada- you can contact Western Veterinary College at the University of Saskatchewan, The University of Guelph in Ontario, The University of Prince Edward Island The University of Alberta and (if you speak and write fluent French) the University of Montreal.
Best wishes,
S. Evans
