Question
hello. my thoroughbred mare is eating its own manure. may i know why? what does it mean?

Answer
Hello Rohit,

It means that she is not getting the vitamins she needs, or that she is bored, or that she does not have hay to munch on.  If she is stalled and fed pellets, then she will develop many bad habits from sheer boredom.

You must understand the needs of a horse, both physically and psychologically, in order to be a horseman.  It is the way of a horse in nature to graze most of a 24 hours period, with short naps.  Your mare must have nothing to "graze" on so she eats the only thing she can.

Sounds like she is a very unhappy mare.
