Injuries?

Question
My horse India injured her back leg really bad. My sister had tied her to a steel fence post to eat some grass. Well she got spooked at ran off. The fence post went into her back leg ankle. It has healed wonderfully and she doesn't favor it at all. But it is a slight bit larger then the other. She does everything normal with it and all. But is there something I should do to make sure it will remain okay?

Answer
Hi Raina;

If it healed right, then it's fine.  The 'extra' size may be due to scar tissue.

If it damaged bone, then she may develop arthritic changes down the road so you can suppliment preventatively for arthritis.

If she damaged soft tissue, then the just keeping her stretched and supple will help.  If she has scar tissue, then physical manipulation of the site (massage) can help break it up.  Or something like shockwave therapy may help.

Good to hear to recovered.

Best wishes!
