pounding stride in horses

hello. hope you are aware of pounding or pointing stride in horses. is it a confirmation fault? i found uncomfortable riding a horse which has pounding stride today in the morning.

This question sounds familiar.  Conformation has a great deal to do with how the horse moves.  Horses with short, straight pasterns generally have much more jarring gaits than ones with longer pastern and a better pastern angle.  More capability of the joint to flex and act as a shock absorber.  Horses with longer, more sloping shoulders have are better built to have more reach to their stride which makes the ride less choppy because the horse covers more ground with each stride.
