trotting before cantering

hello. how many minutes of trotting exercise does a normal horse need before we canter them?

Answer
There is no set time to trot a horse before cantering, it depends on the physical condition of the horse and what it has been doing prior to and during riding. It is not a good idea to pull a horse out of a stall, jump on and canter off, just like an athelete, it needs a warming up period before moving on to a faster gait.
